About Art Report

Art Report is an independent digital magazine covering Galleries, Museums, Artists, Reviews and Art. Exhibitions are experiences before they are arguments, and both deserve reporting. It is part of VUGA Network, a group of independent digital publications published in the United States.

How We Work

What we publish is grounded in going. A review records the hang, the sequence, the sightlines, the wall text and the lighting, because a strong picture badly installed is a different experience from a strong picture given room. Provenance and loan credits get read. Editions and dates get checked.

What We Cover

Galleries follows dealers, programs and the commercial circuit, from established houses to small project rooms — what is currently hanging, how a program has developed, which editions are available and what a visit involves.

Museums covers collections, temporary surveys, conservation work, curatorial appointments and deaccession controversies, with practical detail included: admission, timed entry, free hours and how long a floor genuinely takes.

Artists carries profiles that organize a body of work into periods, materials and turning points, then say where the significant pieces can be seen — historical figures and living practitioners both.

Reviews is the verdict file, show by show, covering curatorial argument, installation quality and value for the admission price, with praise and complaint kept specific.

Art News keeps the institutional record — forthcoming exhibitions, directorships, restitution cases, funding awards and cuts, closures and acquisitions — while Business News reports admissions revenue, sponsorship, auction results and the budgets behind exhibition programs.

Standards

We do not review from installation photographs, we do not accept a press preview as the whole show, and we say plainly when a ticket price is not repaid by the contents.
